Tameka Norman

Tameka Kenan-Norman joined the WBOC news team January 2022 and co-anchors “WBOC News This Morning.”

Tameka was born in Wilmington, N.C. She graduated valedictorian from Fayetteville State University with a bachelor’s degree in speech/communications. Tameka is also a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where she received a master’s degree in communication studies.

Tameka began her career in radio as a morning show co-host for Foxy 99.1 in Fayetteville, N.C. She then moved to Greensboro, N.C. where she worked as production director and weekend on-air announcer for 102 Jamz. Charleston, S.C. was Tameka’s next stop, where she secured a position as mid-day host and music director for Magic 107.3.

After a 10-year career in radio, Tameka began working in marketing and public relations, first for South Carolina State University where she also produced and served as a fill-in host for the university’s alumni television show. As chief communications and marketing officer for the city of Rocky Mount, N.C., Tameka oversaw the government’s Public Access Channel and hosted a television show on city events and initiatives.

Prior to working for WBOC, Tameka served as chief communications and marketing officer for SHORE UP! Inc., where she also hosted the non-profit’s television show airing on PAC-14.

Tameka has also worked as a columnist for a newspaper in Fayetteville, N.C., and as a writer for a lifestyle and personal growth magazine in Columbia, S.C.

Tameka’s family includes her husband, Raheen Norman, and her son D.J.

She enjoys line dancing, going to the movies, shopping, and spending time with friends and family.
