SALISBURY, Md.- A child and his parent allegedly got into an enclosure Friday at the Salisbury Zoo.

According to the zoo, a child went into the South American yard enclosure, which is home to the capybara, rheas and macaws. A Zoo staff member attempted to stop the child but was unsuccessful. The child’s mother then went in after him.

Officials say another guest, who was on the other side of fence, helped the staff member quickly help the guests out of the exhibit. There were no injuries reported for humans or animals, and no property was damaged.

The Salisbury Zoo is reminding all guests to not enter any zoo animal’s exhibit or touch any zoo animal, for everyone’s safety. If you do see a guest entering an animal's exhibit, please notify staff for assistance, as they have training in working with exotic animals.
