EASTON, Md.- With the release of new CDC guidelines for social distancing in schools last week, Superintendent of Schools Kelly Griffith on Monday announced changes to the hybrid learning model currently in place for Talbot County Public Schools.

“After speaking with Dr. Maguire and the Board of Education, our administrative team has been reviewing our recovery plan and our hybrid model to ensure a smooth transition to more in-person instruction,” Griffith said in a letter to parents.

Effective Monday, April 12, all current elementary in-person students (Pre-K through grade 5) will attend school on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Wednesdays will remain both asynchronous and synchronous learning pending individual school schedules.

As the CDC has not fully lifted the 6-foot distancing for secondary schools, students in grades 6-12 currently attending school in-person will continue with their concurrent AA/BB day synchronous model four days per week and Wednesdays will remain asynchronous. All schools will work to maintain 6-foot distancing in common areas and among staff.

TCPS is revising transportation routes so that it can notify families of any changes to pick up and drop off times. The district will also be posting the capacity and rider numbers per bus by school. Outdoor activities will still comply with Gov. Larr7 Hogan's orders, and may be adjusted as needed. Schools are closed April 2-9 for spring break.
