BRIDGEVILLE, Del. - The Delaware State Fire Marshal's office has determined that a fire at a single family home in Bridgeville, Delaware was started after a cigarette lighter malfunctioned in the living room.
Fire officials say firefighters from the Bridgeville Vol. Fire Department, Greenwood, Seaford and Farmington Fire Companies all responded to a call on the unit block of Oak Street just before 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 18.
There were no reported injuries, however two adults were transported to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital to be checked out. Arrangements are being made to contact the American Red Cross for housing assistance.
Deputies from the State Fire Marshal's Office say the investigation revealed the cigarette lighter caught fire when it malfunctioned, igniting light weight combustibles.
According to officials, fire damage at the home is estimated around $35,000.
