MILFORD, Del.- The Delaware State Police have identified the name of the pedestrian who died in a crash on June 12, 2020, on Dupont Boulevard in Milford, as 41-year-old Eric R. Dennis of Lincoln, DE.
The crash continues to remain under investigation by the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.
Troopers said it happened shortly after 2 a.m., when a 2007 Freightliner tractor pulling an enclosed box trailer, was traveling northbound on Dupont Boulevard in the right lane, south of Donovan Street in Milford. Police said that for an unknown reason, a pedestrian appeared from the east side of the highway and stepped directly into the path of the truck. The driver of the truck was unable to avoid striking the pedestrian.
The pedestrian, a 41-year-old man Lincoln, Del., was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Police said the driver of the Freightliner, a 65-year-old man from Nelsonia, Va., was properly restrained and uninjured.
Northbound Dupont Boulevard in the area of Donovan Street was closed for approximately four hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
