Veterans Gather in Kent County for the 80th Anniversary of the Pearl Harbor Attack

SMYRNA, Del. - It was a SOMBER TuesDAY here ON DELMARVA. VETERANS AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS GATHERED TO HONOR THOSE LIVES LOST IN THE ATTACK 80 YEARS AGO AT LAKE Como IN Smyrna.

PAUL Davis IS A Vietnam VETERAN. HE SAYS THE PEARL Harbor ATTACK, ON December 7, 1941, IS SOMETHING PEOPLE SHOULD ALWAYS be remembered.

"We should never forget it because once we forget history, we repeat history. I think it's important we leave a legacy.  Young people need to understand that democracy is not free and that democracy is something that we had to earn and we must maintain," says Davis.

VETERAN, TERRY BAKER, SAYS Tuesday's CEREMONY WAS ALL ABOUT UNITY, REMEMBRANCE, AND DUTY.

"Pearl is about doing what is right, remembering the sacrifice of the men that served this country. We're all one nation. There's only one color in the battlefield, red. We learn that from incidents Pearl Harbor. People like Dorie Miller and others fought side by side with their comrades, with their shipmates, and tried to do what was right for America," says Baker.

The PEARL Harbor MEMORIAL WAS PLACED ALONG LAKE Como IN 2018. VETERANS HOPE THIS WILL SERVE AS A SYMBOL FOR PEOPLE TO NEVER FORGET THAT FATEFUL DAY.
