MARYLAND- Marylanders who enter stores within the state or use public transportation are now required to wear a face covering. The requirement, took effect at 7 a.m. Saturday, comes from an executive order Gov. Larry Hogan signed on Wednesday, April 15.
The governor's order applies to both customers and employers at all retail establishments, including supermarkets, pharmacies and convenience stores. Hogan's order also requires those businesses to put into place appropriate social distancing measures to keep both their customers and employees safe.
The Maryland Department of Health says COVID-19 can be spread by people who feel healthy. It's transmitted through droplets when a person coughs, speaks or sneezes. The health department says that's why it's so important to wear face coverings, which will protect you and everyone around you.
People who may not be able to find a face mask can make their own. You can find more details here.
