SUDLERSVILLE, Md.- Authorities say improperly discarded smoking materials caused a fire that caused tens of thousands of dollars in damage to a home in Queen Anne's County.

It happened at around 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 20, at a home located at 110 North Church St. in Sudlersville.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office said it took 25 firefighters from the Sudlersville Vol. Fire Co. approximately 35 minutes to get the two-alarm blaze under control.

The fire caused an estimated $50,000 in damage to the structure and another $20,000 in damage to its contents. There were no reported injuries.

Investigators said no smoke alarms were present but some were distributed to the occupants after the incident, which has been ruled accidental.
