Suspect Calls Saints Peter and Paul High School Threat "Joke"

EASTON, Md.- The Easton Police Department acted investigated a shooting threat to an Easton high school that the suspect ultimately deemed it as a "joke."

On Sunday, March 10, Easton police were informed about a school shooting threat against Saints Peter and Paul High School that was said to happen on Monday, March 11. The threat was posted online with references to Nikolas Cruz, the Parkland, Florida shooter, plus AR-15 references.

Easton investigators were called to assess if the threat was legitimate.

After an extensive investigation, police say they found the identity of the suspect. He is an 18-year-old, Caucasian male living in the Midwest. Officers from a Law Enforcement Agency in the suspect's state conducted a search of his home and found no access to weapons.

The 18-year-old admitted to police that he posted the threat, telling them it was a "joke."

Police say he was apologetic and officers were able to clear the home without incident.

On Monday, Easton Police Department, Maryland State Police, and the Dorchester County Sheriff's Explosive Detection K-9's teamed up to scan Saints Peter and Paul High School for any firearms or explosives.

No firearms nor explosives were found, according to police.

The Easton Police Department told parents to have a conversation their children "about the seriousness of online posts and behavior. The consequences of such threat or mention can be severe."
