Chincoteague is home to the famous pony swim and residents and visitors enjoy fishing, crabbing, and eating at Woody’s Beach BBQ and Eatery. The popular children’s book ‘Misty of Chincoteague’ written by Marguerite Henry was set in the island town of Chincoteague. The books tells the story of a family and their efforts to raise a horse. There was also a film made in 1961 based on the book.
