Police: Boy Accidentally Shot While Playing With Gun

MILTON, Del.- Delaware State Police arrested 24-year-old Melissa Bliss of Millsboro and 26-year-old Jeremy Jones of Millsboro on drugs and weapon charges following a traffic stop Saturday afternoon.

On November 28, 2020, at approximately 12:35 p.m., a trooper observed a blue Chevrolet Malibu traveling westbound on Pettyjohn Road and detected the vehicle traveling above the posted speed limit.

The trooper initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the driver identified as Jeremy Jones and front seat passenger identified as Melissa Bliss.

Upon contact the trooper smelled an odor of marijuana coming from inside of the vehicle.

Subsequently troopers performed a probable cause search and discovered a loaded 9mm semi-automatic handgun, approximately 15.4 grams of marijuana, .322 grams of heroin, 23 Oxycodone pills, 2 Ecstasy pills, and over $500 in suspected drug proceeds.

Bliss and Jones were taken into custody without incident and transported back to Troop 7 where they were charged with the following:

  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony (Felony)
  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon (Felony)
  • Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance (Felony) – 3 counts
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Jeremy Jones

  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony (Felony)
  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon (Felony)
  • Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance (Felony) – 3 counts
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Speeding
