Updated: Police ID Man Struck and Killed While Mowing Grass in Kent County, Del.

CAMDEN, Del.- Authorities have released the name of a man who died after being hit by a car while mowing a ditch in front of his home in Kent County on Saturday evening.

Delaware State Police identified the victim as 74-year-old Thomas J. Stubbs, of Camden, Wyoming.

Police said that at about 8 p.m. Saturday, Stubb was mowing a ditch in front of his home on the 4000-block of Westville Road about six feet north of the roadway.

Troopers said a 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe, driven by a 59-year-old Camden woman, hit Stubbs while he was standing/walking behind his push lawnmower.

Stubbs was taken to Bayhealth Kent General where he was pronounced dead. 

The 59-year-old woman was treated for minor inquires and released.

Police say Westville Road, between Tower and Sandy Bend roads, was closed for about three-and-a-half hours while the collision was investigated and has since been reopened.

The crash remains under investigation by the Delaware State Police Troop 3 Collision Reconstruction Unit. No charges have been filed at this time.
