Food Vendor Safety at the Delaware State Fair

Concessions at The Delaware State Fair

HARRINGTON, Del. - When you hear the words, The Delaware State Fair, many instantly think of all the different kinds of food. The fair has returned for another year and has brought along the traditional vendors as well as some new food stands.

Although there are no COVID restrictions at the fair this summer, most vendors have made some changes to ensure the safety of their staff and customers.

Owner of Jim's Deep Fried Tacos, James Staub, has encouraged his customers to pay with credit card to reduce hand-to-hand contact. Staub said his main goal is to keep all fair goers healthy this year.

"We preach cleanliness, cleanliness," Staub said. "And I mean, one thing thats different from years past is you see hand sanitizer out a lot around now. So as long as you keep hand sanitizer...we got sanitizer in the trailer for employees."

Founder and Owner of Spaghetti Eddies, Edward Porcelli, said his customers are his main priority and he has done everything in his power to keep his employees and customers safe.

"So some of the things that we are doing a little differently is providing hand sanitizer," Porcelli said. "Um, were all vaccinated. We wear gloves diligently. We wash our hands diligently."

The fairs management team has set up hand sanitizer stations all around the fairgrounds. They are also encouraging those who are unvaccinated to wear mask and social distance when appropriate. Their main goal is to make the 2021 Delaware State Fair the safest and best one yet!

"I mean it's very important for us to make sure we have a balance and a safe environment here at the Delaware State Fair," said Danny Aguilar, assistant general manager of the fair. "Fairs have always done extremely well because of E-coli and other viruses and air borne issues that we are prepared."
