Traffic Stop Leads to Weapon and Drug Charges in Georgetown

GEORGETOWN, Del.- Two separate traffic stops in Georgetown on June 5, 2020, resulted in the recovery of firearms and drugs.

On June 5, 2020, at approximately 3:30 p.m., Georgetown Police were alerted to a car that had possibly fled a collision scene.

Georgetown Officers located the vehicle, a silver Volkswagen Jetta with New York registration, traveling s/b on Route 113 near Arrow Safety Road.

Upon contacting the car and its riders, officers observed an odor of Marijuana.

A subsequent search of the vehicle was conducted, and the following was located:

  • 1.79 grams of Marijuana
  • Loaded Taurus 9mm handgun
  • Magazine loaded with 10 rounds

Demon Harris 20, of Elkton, Maryland, was wanted for an active capias and committed to Sussex Correctional Institute in lieu of $4500.00 secured bond.

Daquon Colson 20, of Elkton, Maryland was charged with the following:

  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon a Firearm
  • Possession of a weapon with altered/removed serial number
  • Possession of Marijuana

Colson was committed to Sussex Correctional Institute in lieu of $5100.00 secured bond.

On June 5, 2020, at approximately 8:12 p.m., Georgetown Officers stopped a white Mercedes for a traffic violation on Route 113 s/b near Old Laurel Rd.

Upon contacting the car and its riders, officers observed an odor of Marijuana.

A subsequent search of the vehicle was conducted, and the following was located:

 

  • Unloaded 9mm Ruger handgun
  • Magazine loaded with 10 rounds
  • 34 grams of Marijuana

Wyasia Hollowell 19, of Portsmouth, Virginia was charged with the following:

  • Possession of Marijuana
  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon a Firearm
  • Speeding
  • Driving without a license

Hollowell was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 3 and released.

A 17-year-old female juvenile passenger was charged with possession of Marijuana and released to a parent.
