BISHOPVILLE, Md.- Authorities say two people were killed after the van they were in collided with a tractor-trailer hauling propane late Friday morning in Worcester County.

The accident happened at the intersection of Route 113 and Bishopville Road in Bishopville. State Police say the van, driven by 40-year-old Jason Blevins,  failed to stop at a red light and collided with a tractor-trailer.

Police say both Blevins and a passenger, 38-year-old Margaret Adams, were pronounced dead at the scene.

According to a Showell Volunteer Fire Department official, the driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.

Crews from the Bishopville, Showell, Ocean Pines, Ocean City and Selbyville volunteer fire companies responded to the scene. The Worcester County Hazmat Team also responded as the crash resulted in propane leaking from the trailer. The Maryland Department of Environment was also requested to respond.

Both sides of Route 113 were closed for about eight hours after this crash in Bishopville.
