Overnight Fire Destroys Home in Georgetown

GEORGETOWN, Del. - Firefighters were on the scene of a house fire early Wednesday morning in Georgetown.

According to the Georgetown Fire Company, firefighters responded to the home on E. Market Street in Georgetown after midnight Wednesday. When they arrived, the fire company says firefighters saw flames coming out of the attic windows.

Video and pictures from the scene showed flames coming out of the roof and smoke billowing into the sky, as well as a large hole in the top of the house after the fire was put out.

No word as of Wednesday morning as to the cause of the fire or the estimated cost of the damage. The Georgetown Fire Company said no injuries were reported.
