HARBESON, Del.- Authorities are investigating a Tuesday afternoon fire that broke out at a building at the Allen Harim poultry processing plant in Harbeson.

Milton Volunteer Fire Company spokesman Jay Clarke said the call came in shortly after 2 p.m. He said firefighters from the Milton, Indian River, Georgetown and Lewes fire companies responded to the scene.

The fire occurred in a utility building at the rear of the plant, which was evacuated without incident, Allen Harim said in a statement.

The fire was contained in about 30 minutes, according to Clarke, who said there were no reported injuries.

There is no word yet on the extent of damage.

The Delaware State Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the fire and has cleared Allen Harim to resume production, the company said.
