FELTON, Del.- Delaware State Police say one person was killed and another seriously injured following a Tuesday afternoon crash that happened on Irish Hill Road in Felton.

Troopers said the accident happened shortly after 5 p.m. when a 1996 Chevrolet Corvette, operated by 50-year-old John E. Watson, of Woodside, lost control of his vehicle while attempting a left curve.  Watson's car then collided with 22-year-old Chelsea E. Harris' silver Ford Focus, according to police.

The crash spun Watson's Corvette down an embankment and left Harris' car to rotate back into her original lane, troopers said.

Police said Watson was pronounced dead at the scene from his injuries during the crash prior to being transported to the Bayhealth Kent General Hospital. Harris was also transported to the same hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

It is unknown if alcohol was a factor in the crash on the part of the victim, according to police.  Both drivers were properly restrained in their vehicles.

The DSP Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing its investigation into the crash, which left Irish Hill Road closed for three hours.
