Man Found Dead Following Easton House Fire

EASTON, Md.- An investigation is underway after a man was found dead in an Easton house fire late Saturday night.

According to the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office, 39 firefighters responded to a house fire on the 7300 block of Brett Road shortly after 11 p.m. Saturday. According to the investigators, firefighters found the remains of a 61-year-old man in a second level bedroom, the same place where investigators believe the fire started. The cause remains under investigation.

In addition to the 61-year-old, the man's 85-year-old mother was found at the fire scene. She was transported to a burn center in Baltimore where she was listed in critical but stable condition. Investigators say they did not find any smoke alarms in the home. 

Investigators said the fire caused $220,000 in damages to the two story, split level home and another $80,000 in damage to the home's contents.
