SNOW HILL, Md.- Worcester County Animal Control has come up with a new set of rules for pet owners. Beginning in December, owners can no longer keep their animals outside in unsafe weather conditions.
Those conditions include strong winds and temperatures below 32 degrees above or 85 degrees.
These changes were approved by the Worcester County Commissioners and Animal Control officials say this will help them better protect animals.
"People think because dogs have fur, they can withstand all kinds of temperatures but that's not always true. They do need shelter to get out of the wind. They're just like people . They need to be made comfortable also," says Animal Control worker, Wayne Young.
Animal Control says it will give pet owners some time to adjust to these new rules before handing out citations.
