MIDDLETOWN, Del. --- The U.S. Route 301 Mainline Project is beginning to wrap up work and lead to the state's first cashless toll road opening in December.
The new U.S. Route 301 bypass will take drivers around Middletown and connect them directly to Delaware Route 1.
Drivers who use the new toll road to pass over the state line can expect to pay $4.00 for two axle vehicles like cars, though southbound drivers will be billed based on whether they leave the roadway using an exit or by riding over the state line.
The toll road will have sensors that will bill a driver's E-Z Pass account for travel or send a fee in the mail to the driver using registration and license plate records.
