SALISBURY, Md. - The City of Salisbury is planning a town square in the downtown area.

Mayor Jake Day said the square is designed as a community gather space that will host activities and events like New Year's Eve Ball Drop and concerts.

The square will face the parking garage and extend into a section of Parking Lot 1 from the library to First Shore Federal building.

Business owners said they are excited about the new space.

Mayor Jake Day said the plan is to begin the first phase of construction in early spring and have the entire project complete by the end of 2020.
