Milford Police Now Using Body Cameras

BERLIN, Md.- Berlin's Police Department is adding body cams to its gear.

Town officials say they're hoping for more transparency in the community by making officers wear the cameras.

"In the age of technology you will have a court or you will have people ask, why don't you have a video of a certain incident?" says Berlin Police Chief Arnold Downing.

The police department purchased 10 body cams through grant and department funding.

All Berlin police officers will soon be required to wear them while on patrol.

The chief says with the new cameras, officers will record certain incidents as they deem necessary.

"It's not a situation where we will record all instances , we are still trying to figure out that what cases we will record."

Kevin Henry, who lives in Berlin, says he's thankful for the police department's new body cams.

"Nowadays cameras are needed," says Henry.

Downing says officers will start wearing the body cams once they complete a training.
