KENT COUNTY, Del. - Delaware State Police said two people have been arrested for their alleged involvement in a spree of burglaries at chicken farms.
The burglaries happened at chicken arms in the southern part of the county between February and April of this year. According to state police, someone was gaining access into the farms and taking tools, hunting equipment, and firearms.
Troopers said they identified two people allegedly involved in these incidents: 33-year-old Clifton McKinney of Greenwood, DE and 37-year-old Jarel Schaefer of Denton, Md. DSP said they had pawned some of the stolen items at local pawn shops.
McKinney was arrested at a home on the 2400 block of Hickman Road in Greenwood. He was charged with burglary and theft-related offenses. McKinney was arraigned received a $19,500.00 unsecured bond, but he was committed to SCI for having warrants out of Maryland.
Schafer was arrested in Denton, Md. with the help of deputies from the Caroline County Sheriff's Office. Police searched his camper and car with a warrant and officers recovered stolen property, DSP said. He is being at the Caroline County Detention Center as he awaits his extradition back to Delaware.
More of the stolen property was recovered from local pawn shops.
