OCEAN CITY, Md.- Punkin Chunkin could be making a return to Delmarva.
The Ocean City Town Council voted on Tuesday to consider hosting the event, according to the town's communication director, Jessica Waters.
The initial plan calls for pumpkins to be launched from the inlet parking lot out into the ocean.
For years, Punkin Chunkin was held in Bridgeville, Delaware, but that changed after an accident at its 2016 event. It's important to note that Punkin Chunkin resumed at a sanctioned event in Colorado last year.
Punkin Chunkin organizers set a May 1 deadline to find a new home on Delmarva for its 2019 championship, WBOC previously reported.
That championship is set for the first weekend in November, Waters said.
