Heat Wave Continues To Sizzle Salisbury

SALISBURY, Md. -

The summer sizzle has left some people stuck outside, while others are trying to escape the climbing temperatures.

Those like sod farmer Timmy Carey don't have much of a choice.  But Carey says the heat is especially not good on the grass.

"We're cutting by 6 a.m. most mornings, that way cause I run irrigation every night unless we get a rain storm, which there's no rain in the forecast for a week," Carey said.

But Island Creamery General Manager Jen Sorrell says she's ready to cash in on the hot June weather.

"Weather like this is really great for business. It doesn't matter what the weather is to want ice cream, but you just crave it and you're driven to find it when the weather is like this," Sorrell said.

But as summer camps continued in Salisbury today, a fun Friday at the pool was needed for Camp Phoenix Director Kena Garner.

Garner says it's often difficult to keep the kids hydrated during outside play time.

"We try to like disguise how we're hydrating them and give them watermelon, ice pops, those types of things," Garner said.

Either way, heat lover or hater, everyone focused on staying hydrated and cool in this summer sizzle in Salisbury.
