New Ice Rink Unveiled at Winter WonderFest in Lewes

MILTON, Del.- Delaware's biggest holiday fundraiser is moving from the Cape May-Lewes Ferry to Hudson Fields.

Organizers announced Winter WonderFEST's move on Tuesday. Christian Hudson says the field provides more space and a prime location on Route One. The festival's light display will be set up on the highway starting at Route 16, and Hudson says there is plenty of free parking.

"Christmas is a big time of year for our family with young kids," he says. "We are just super excited to bring it here to Hudson Fields."

Winter WonderFEST Director Peter Briccotto calls Hudson Fields the festival's permanent home, including the ice rink that organizers raised $350,000 to purchase and are currently working to pay off. Briccotto says Hudson Fields is a more efficient way of operating for years to come and helps support Winter WonderFEST's mission; in the past three years, the organization provided $150,000 in grants.

"We could be satisfied with just producing Winter WonderFEST but we really wanted the best opportunity to raise money to give back to the community and continue to improve our event," he said in a Facebook video.

Winter WonderFEST 2019 is slated to begin on November 16. For more information, click here.
