Sussex Montessori Public Charter School Pushing for Diverse Student Body

GEORGETOWN, Del.- The Sussex Montessori Public Charter School is pushing for a diverse student body. That's why it has been pairing with organizations like La Esperanza, to welcome in members of the Hispanic community.

"I want to tell the parents that you are most welcomed here, this is a free education, Montessori traditionally is a very expensive private school experience, but your children are welcome," said the Lisa Coldiron, head of Sussex Montessori.

Coldiron met with parents Wednesday morning to explain what Montessori schools are, and how it can benefit their children.

"If your child is reading in kindergarten they don't have to sit and do beginner letter sounds...they can do reading and go into comprehension and really grow," said Coldiron. "If they're struggling even in first grade and still doing these beginning sounds they don't feel less than who they are."

Enrollment is open until Jan. 8. To find out more information or to know where they'll be visiting next, visit the school's website or Facebook page.
