Md. Fire Marshal Investigating Dorchester Co. Boat Fire as Arson

WINGATE, Md.- A fire late Saturday night that heavily damaged a boat in Dorchester County is being investigated as a case of arson.

According to the Office of the State Fire Marshal, at around 10:30 p.m. a passerby reported the fire on the 40-foot Deadrise workboat, located at 2100 Wingate Bishops Head Road in Wingate. 

Firefighters from the Lakes and Straits Fire Company responded and had the fire under control in about 30 minutes.

Investigators said the fire started on the aft deck and caused about $70,000 in damage to the boat and its contents.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Salisbury Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal at 410-713-3780.
