MILLSBORO, Del.- A 39-year-old Millsboro man is facing assault and related charges following accusations that he attacked and injured his girlfriend's father.
Delaware State Police said it happened shortly after 10 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, when Omar S. Ruiz got into a fight with his girlfriend’s 48-year-old father at a home in the 27000 block of Willow Lane in Millsboro. Troopers said that during the fight, two children, ages 1 and 11 were present.
Police said the victim was able to leave the home and went to a neighbor’s home. Troopers said they made contact with the victim at this home and observed the victim to have injuries to his face. The victim was subsequently transported to a local hospital where he was treated for what were described as non-life-threatening injuries.
Ruiz was taken into custody at his home on Willow Lane in Millsboro and transported back to Troop 4 where he was charged with second-degree assault and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
Ruiz was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $12,000 cash only bond.
