LEWES, Del. - Repairs to the Gordons Pond elevated boardwalk at Cape Henlopen State Park have been put on hold due to upcoming inclement weather.
The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control have rescheduled the repairs for Feb. 10 and 11. The construction, set to begin Feb. 5, was postponed due to rain in the forecast.
The repairs come after the boardwalks railing began to pull away after years of use. The decking will be removed to repair the railing, making it unsafe for visitors while the work is being done.
The Gordons Pond boardwalk is located at the beginning of the trail near the Biden Center and the Herring Point parking lot. Access to the the boardwalk where it meets the north and south points along the trail will be closed during the boardwalks repairs. The rest of the Cape Henlopen State Park trails will remain open.
