LAUREL, Del.- Delaware State Police say three men are facing several drug and weapons charges following a traffic stop Sunday afternoon.

Troopers say around 2 p.m. they stopped a car on Sussex Highway just north of Delaware Avenue. After making contact with the driver, Jason A. Talley, 28, of San Francisco, troopers say they smelled marijuana.

Troopers then spoke with the passengers, Tabius Cannon, 24, of Salisbury, Md., who police say gave them a fake name, Cameron Patterson, 24, also of Salisbury, who was in the backseat with four children ranging in age from 6 to 11.

As a result, troopers said they searched the car and found approximately 912.75 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. During the search, troopers say Cannon took off running before officers found him hiding in a parked car behind a home on Broad Creek.

Police said during a further search of the car, they found silver, .380 semi-automatic pistol, and a magazine containing three .380 rounds. A computer search showed Cannon was prohibited from possessing a firearm or ammunition, according to police.

Police say, Talley, Cannon, and Patterson were arrested on several drugs and weapons-related charges. The three men were committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on secured bond, according to police.
