DOVER, Del. - Over the last two months, four people have died of gunshot wounds in the Dover area.

Three of those victims were not even 20-years-old.

Kainami Grant, 15, of Milford, was killed on Jan. 6.

JaMil Greene, 19, of Dover, was killed Jan. 24.

Tiffany Montgomery, 34, of Dover, was killed Feb. 10.

Shiheem Durham, 18, of Dover, was killed Feb. 25.

For those who spend a lot of time in the Dover area, the rash of violence has been concerning.

"Like they say, 5 o'clock. After 5 o'clock, the city is going to be empty. Because nobody wants to stay in the city if it's not safe," said Milik Woodard of Smyrna, who works in Dover.

Nathaniel Gibbs, Jr., a resident of Dover's west side, expressed a similar sentiment.

""It bothers me that we have all this gun violence especially with the guns now," explained Gibbs. "It really makes you a little apprehensive about even coming downtown."

The recent violence isn't just a concern for those who work and live in Dover, but for those who patrol the streets.

"This is top priority of the police department at this time, as well as our partnerships with community leaders and organizations to help us address this situation and prevent further incidents from occurring as well," said Master Cpl. Mark Hoffman of the Dover Police.

Hoffman says the Dover Police Department is working with federal and state agencies to find a solution to the recent uptick in violence in the city.

"The loss of life at such a young age is nothing short of tragic and should make the community angry and upset. And we're hoping that if anything good comes out of the recent spike that we've seen is that the community will come together and help the police and help each other work through this issue," said Hoffman.

Authorities are still working on many of these gun violence cases, including Tuesday's fatal shooting. If you have any information on these cases, you are asked to call Delaware Crime Stoppers.
