Second Suspect Arrested in Homicide Investigation in Dover

DOVER, Del.- Delaware State Police have arrested 23-year old Jaquell A. McDonald, of Lincoln, in connection with the murder of a 30-year-old Cambridge, Md., man. 

Jesse Stanford was shot during a home invasion that occurred on Jan. 5 in Dover and died two days later.

On Friday, Feb. 28, detectives obtained warrants charging McDonald with Stanford’s murder.

On this same date, members of the U.S. Marshall’s Task Force and Troop 3 Governors Task Force, located McDonald on Walker Road in the area of Kenton Road in Dover, where he was taken into custody without incident.

McDonald was charged with one count each of first-degree murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited and first-degree conspiracy.

He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court #2 and then committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $1,126,00 cash bail.

McDonald is the second suspect charged in connection with Stanford’s murder.

Cahlil N. Simmons, 25 of Felton, was arrested on February 14, 2020.

The investigation is ongoing.
