RIDGELY, Md.- Maryland State Police have arrested a Kent County, Md., teacher accused of having sex with a teenage boy.
Police identified the suspect as Brittney Lyles, 29, of Ridgley, Md., who was arrested Friday following an investigation. She was charged with two counts of fourth-degree sex offense, sex abuse of a minor, contributing to certain conditions of a child and other related offenses.
An investigation into Lyles was initiated March 4 by the Maryland State Police Criminal Enforcement Division, Upper Shore Region. According to a preliminary investigation, the alleged offenses occurred in February. Investigators said they learned that Lyles was working as a teacher at the Kent County Alternative School Program at the time of the alleged incidents.
According to the investigation, none of the alleged activities between Lyles and the victim, a 17-year-old boy, occurred on school property. It is believed Lyles picked up the victim in her vehicle from an off-campus location before taking him to another location where the offenses occurred.
