BERLIN, Md.- A 23-year-old Berlin man is behind bars after being arrested in connection with an assault that put another man in the hospital.
The Worcester County Bureau of Investigation said that shortly after 4 a.m. Monday, June 22, the Berlin Police Department responded to a reported assault that happened on the 100 block of Franklin Avenue.
Police said that upon arrival officers found the 22-year-old victim had sustained multiple injuries caused by Edwin Horner IV. The victim was transported to Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, for treatment of non-life0threatening injuries.
Due to the nature of the incident, the Worcester Bureau of Investigation was requested and assumed the case. Police said the investigation revealed the initial assault took place within a vehicle being operated by Horner in the area of Sunset Avenue and Stephen Decatur Highway in West Ocean City. According to investigators, Horner struck the victim multiple times causing injury. The victim was able to escape the vehicle at one point, but was again physically assaulted and forced back into the vehicle by Horner, police said.
Horner was arrested and charged with second-degree assault and false imprisonment and ordered held without bond.
