Man Arrested After Barricade Situation in Milford

Brandt L. Craft

MILFORD, Del.- A barricade situation that lasted several hours in Milford ended with the arrest of a 36-year-old man on multiple firearm and related charges.

Milford police said that on Friday, Oct, 16, officers were called to a home on the 200 block of Southeast 2nd Street to a report of a domestic situation involving a firearm. That investigation resulted in officers needing to contact Brandt L. Craft, of Milford.

Police said Craft refused to exit the home at the request of the officers. This led to a several-hour negotiation for his surrender, which ended peacefully when Craft decided to comply and exit the home to be taken into custody without incident. This incident resulted in road closures in the area, neighbors being evacuated, and the assistance of the Delaware State Police Special Operations Response Team, Conflict Management, and Explosive Ordinance Disposal.

Craft has been charged with Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Possession of a Firearm by Person Prohibited, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and Aggravated Menacing.

Craft was presented at the Justice of the Peace Court #3 in Georgetown, where he was ordered held in Sussex Correctional Institution on $82,000 cash bond. He is scheduled to appear Oct. 21 for a preliminary hearing at the Sussex County Court of Common Pleas.
