Delaware Junction Festival is announcing eight winners of its Campsite Decorating Contest.
The festival made its debut in Harrington, Del., Aug. 14-16, featuring well-known country artists, foods and camping.
One of Delaware Junction’s highlights was the Campsite Decorating Contest. The rules for this contest were simple: Decorate your campsite in the ‘MERICA (Red, White & Blue) theme for a chance to win camping and tickets for Delaware Junction 2016!
Not only were the rules simple, the contest was easy to enter. When purchasing a campsite, an entry form was available on the website. Upon arrival to the festival, guests had until 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 15, to complete the site decorations. The campsites were judged until 4 p.m. that day.
For the contest, there were so many good entries that Delaware Junction couldn’t just pick one. There were eight winners!
Delaware Junction remarked on its Facebook page:
“Wow, the campsite contest was over the top!! EVERYONE did an amazing job and thank you for participating and showing your love for the red, white and blue!
We couldn’t pick out just one winner so we’re awarding prizes for 5 campsites! They will each get up to (6) 3-day passes and their same campground for Delaware Junction Festival 2016! If you see a photo from your campsite below….CONGRATS!”
WBOC was able to catch up with a few campers. Although Chelsea Espenlaub from Laurel, Del., did not win the contest, she had a blast camping.
“Camping was awesome. The people next to us were amazing and it honestly made our whole weekend,” Espenlaub said. “Other than a few hiccups here and there everything went very smooth as far as organization, the showers were clean and the bathrooms were cleaned every day. It was a great experience, I can’t wait for next year!”
