New Localism Film Festival
Beer and Benevolence Coordinator with Dogfish Head Craft Brewed Ales, Mark Carter, joined up with Abbott’s Mill Nature Center Manager, Matt Babbitt, to talk about an event to kick-off their 35th anniversary celebration – a New Localism Film Festival.
“The film festival was Mark Carter’s idea,” Matt said. “Mark introduced us to the idea of short films.”
The film festival includes three short films, which are about 10-20 minutes long, and they are all produced by Patagonia. There will be a discussion panel at the event to help tie in local issues after the films. Director of Conservation Programs, Brian Boutin, and Executive Director for the Center for the Inland Bays, Chris Basin, will be attendance at the event as well.
The three films playing Friday, May 20:
Mile for Mile – This film is about land conservation and trail access, as well as trail running.
The Fisherman’s Son – This film is about a young man who is a surfer from South America. He discusses clean water issues and talks about how people in the community can help.
Defined by the Line – This film features a young man who moved to Utah to go rock climbing and then becomes involved with local archaeology.
You can get tickets online or at the door. Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for students and seniors. Doors open at 6 pm and films start at 7 pm at Abbott’s Mill Nature Center.
The Taco Reho food truck will be there along with Dogfish Head Craft Brewed Ales.
All proceeds benefit the Delaware Nature Society.
