Apple Cider Donut Bread Pudding, ahead of this weekend’s Bridgeville Apple Scrapple Festival.

Apple Cider Donut Bread Pudding

2-3 apple cider donuts

5 eggs

1/3 cup sugar

½ cup light brown sugar

2 cups half & half

½ cup cider

1 teaspoon cinnamon

Pinch salt

Cinnamon sugar

Cut donuts into 1” pieces.  Lined a 9”square baking pan that has been sprayed with cooking spray.

In a large mixing bowl whisk eggs.  Add sugars and whisk again.  Add milk, cider, cinnamon and salt.  Whisk until combined.  Pour over donut pieces.  Allow to sit for 15 minutes so that donuts absorb the custard.  Bake in preheated oven for 40-50 minutes until knife inserted in the center comes about clean.

Sprinkle top with cinnamon sugar.

For additional apple flavor add one finely chopped apple that has been softened in 1 tablespoon of butter.
