BLOODSWORTH

It was a story that captivated Delmarva.

So much so that, to this day, when somebody speaks of Kirk Bloodsworth, many people remember what went down.

It was 1985. Bloodsworth was convicted of the rape and murder of nine-year-old Dawn Hamilton in Rosedale. Bloodsworth was to be put to death for the crime he maintained he did not commit. Just about nine years later, DNA evidence backed that claim, and Kirk Bloodsworth was released from prison, a free man. He became the first American on death row to be exonerated by DNA evidence.

It’s a fascinating story, and one that author Tim Junkin details in his book Bloodsworth: The True Story of the First Death Row Inmate Exonerated by DNA. We’ll sit down with Tim, to hear what went into writing this book.
