Experts say that teaching children another language at a young age is good so that they grow up with the knowledge. WBOC’s Brittany Cooper joins Lisa and Jimmy to talk about bilingual babies.
Brittany says that some parents are teaching their kids a second language as they are learning their first. Dr. Claire Kew, Modern Language Chair at Salisbury University, says that when you are born you have the ability to hear all sounds and all languages and then your brain specializes when you get older, and you lose that ability. Dr. Claire says that is why the younger you start teaching your child a second language, the more effective it is.
Brittany says some families learn a new language together and make it a group effort.
