For Adults
Coming out in February, we have Lucy Foley’s latest whodunit, The Paris Apartment. Broke and alone, Jess needs a new start. So, she sets off to stay with her half-brother in his Paris apartment. But when she arrives, he’s not there. And the longer he stays missing the more questions she has. Ben’s neighbors are an eclectic bunch – and every one of them a suspect. Fans of Louise Penny and Ruth Rendell will enjoy this, and others by Lucy Foley.
The School for Good Mothers by Jessamine Chan just published January 4th. This dystopian drama is Chan’s debut novel, and has already been optioned for a television series by actress Jessica Chastain, from X-Men and Zero Dark Thirty. After one very bad day, newly-singled mother Frida has her 18-month old daughter, Harriet, taken into custody, and must enter a type of mothers reform school in order to get her back. It’s got lots of starred reviews and lots of buzz.
The Final Case by David Guterson released January 11th. Guterson is the best-selling author of Snow Falling on Cedars. It’s both a father-son story and a courtroom drama, following the case of an adoptive couple charged with their daughter’s murder. It’s his most compelling and heartfelt novel to date.

Wings of Fire #5: The Brightest Night, by Tui Sutherland and Mike Holmes
This is the graphic novel adaptation of the 5th installment in Sutherland’s very popular middle grade fantasy series. It came out Dec. 28th, and is hot, hot hot.
Feb. 1 – The Baby-Sitters Club #11 – “Good-Bye Stacey, Good-Bye,” adapted by Gabriela Epstein (based on the original novels by Ann Martin)
Stacy McGill is moving back to New York. How will the Baby-Sitters Club go on without her? This one, all the BSC graphics, will not stay on the shelves.
James Patterson & Chris Grabenstein are back with their second book in the Katt vs. Dogg series, Katt Loves Dogg. It came out in mid-December, and in this story, lifelong rivals Oscar and Molly are forced to team up and brave the great outdoors on a camping trip in order to save their families.
Mar. 1 – Max and the Midnights #3 – “The Tower of Time” by Lincoln Pierce, author of the ever-popular Big Nate books, has the 3rd book in this series releasing, and it is bound to be as popular as the first two.
In Non-Fiction
Rebecca Barone’s, “Race to the Bottom of the Earth: Surviving Antarctica” has just hit the shelves. This is the story of two historic firsts on the continent – the race to the pole between Roald Amundsen and Robert Scott in 1911, and the 2018 race to cross the continent by Colin O’Brady and Lou Rudd. All these expeditions faced treacherous natural challenges. Anyone who is a survival story fan will enjoy this book.
And in Picture Books,
A follow-up to Philip and Erin Stead’s 2010 classic, A Sick Day for Amos McGee released in November. It’s called Amos McGee Misses the Bus, and it is as charming and captivating as the first book. Amos oversleeps and is late to his job at the zoo. But the animals come to his aid, just as they did for Amos before. It’s delightful.
