Buying a Car Sherwood Thursday June 2 2015 YouTube

Matt Romanowski of Sherwood of Salisbury takes us through the Do’s and Don’ts of buying a car.

DO:

  • Know what you can afford
  • Maintain good credit

Matt says it can’t hurt to use a free service to check your score before going out to buy a car.

When looking to trade in your car…

DO:

  • Obtain regularly scheduled maintenance from a reputable dealership
  • Keep your car neat and clean

Matt says these tips can boost your car’s overall value tremendously.

DO:

  • Purchase a warranty plan
  • Take advantage of GAP insurance

Matt says a warranty plan locks customers into a monthly payment and helps them avoid high damage costs. GAP insurance helps cover the difference between the actual value of the car and what you owe for damages.

DON’T:

  • Expect to purchase a car exactly like those you have researched

Nowadays, customers are doing more research online and visiting fewer dealerships. But, even after all that research, many change their minds when they arrive at the lot.

DON’T:

  • Believe this rumor…

Many think that if you live in Delaware and buy a car in Maryland, you have to pay Maryland taxes. Matt says that is not true.
