Just picked veggies, fresh flowers, free-range duck and chicken eggs and fresh milk are just a few of the products Camden Avenue Farmers Market offers.

The Camden Avenue Farmers Market is celebrating its 9th year of business at the Asbury UM Church in Salisbury, Md. and Elise Jett, market manager for group, says each year the market picks up a greater variety of produce. This farmer’s market is a ‘producers only market’ meaning people selling the produce, are the ones growing it.

“It started out as a CSA pickup for one of the farmers and then he invited another farmer out, a flower vendor, to offer customers something else, and it grew from there,” Jett said.

Vendors at the market include Alaskawild SeafoodsBay Country BakeryBlades Orchard and more. Jett says there is little turnover with the market’s farmers.

The Camden Avenue Farmers Market is open all-year-round on Tuesdays from 2:30-6 p.m., with the exception of November-March, closing at 5:30 p.m.

Jett says the most important goal of the farmers market organizers is getting the residents on Delmarva fresh produce.

“That’s why we do what we do… we just want people to have access to something that was growing yesterday or growing in the morning. To see the appreciation on the customers faces that they can get fresh eggs, fresh milk from grass fed cows… like I said we couldn’t do it them…”

Jett says she is thankful for the faithful customers that come out every Tuesday and she is happy to see a wide variety of groups.

“They come out in the rain, they come out in the snow which makes our vendors come out… if they weren’t there, we wouldn’t be able to be there.”

As of April 2016, the Camden Avenue Farmers Market accepts all major credit cards market wide as well as Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) cards.
