There are now injections to help lower bad cholesterol and even lowered the risk of heart problems and cardiac death rates. However, the injections must be taken once or twice per month costing about $7k-$10k per year. Studies will take about two more years and the FDA may approve the injections this summer.

Cullen Timmons, UVA medical student, was having chest pains and one day he put the stethoscope to his own heart and realized something was wrong. He had an aneurysm and had open heart surgery a week later. Cullen says if he hadn’t been in medical school, his condition probably would have been left un-diagnosed.
