Ocean Bowl Skate Park Celebrates 40 Years YouTube

Like surfing, skateboarding is a major part of Ocean City’s beach culture.

The Ocean Bowl Skate Park is celebrating 40 years! Sean attended the Ocean Bowl 40th Anniversary Celebration. The event included free skate all day, skate jam sessions, one trick pony events, live music and door prizes, and concessions for sale.

In June of 1976 the Ocean Bowl opened. Since then the Town of Ocean City has maintained and improved the park. The Ocean Bowl Skate Park has become a well-known land mark, and skaters from around the world come to visit.

The Ocean City Recreation and Parks Department provides skate contests, camps, lessons and clinics with professional skaters. As well as ongoing activities and events, such as the upcoming Skate Movie by the Bay and the new popular Deck Design program.

The park has become a second home for many local skaters, where they can spend time with friends and family while pursuing their love for skating.
