OCEAN CITY. Md.- The town of Ocean City’s annual Sunfest event, featuring live music, arts and crafts, family hayrides and local food vendors, gets underway Thursday and continues throughout the weekend.
“We’ve been getting ready for Sunfest for the past few months,” said Jessica Waters, communications manager for the town of Ocean City.
Highlights include artistic demonstrations, gourmet food and test-drives in a 2017 Jeep Compass. Kids can enjoy inflatable bounce houses on the beach, hayrides and other activities.
The OC Painting Experience will allow visitors to create their own artwork, and a fireworks display will take place Thursday night at 10 p.m.
Bacon will also be a highlight of the festival.
“There’s actually a bacon tent with everything made of bacon,” Waters said.
The event is located in the OC Inlet parking lot, running from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
There will be live music throughout the day as well as evening headline shows every night by Bid Bad Voodoo Daddy, Clint Black and Christopher Cross. Tickets to see Clint Black are sold out, and there are a few tickets left for Christopher cross, according to Waters.
The four-day event is free, with nearly 300 vendors and over 180 artists for shoppers. Over 200,000 people are expected to attend.
“Sunfest continues to grow every year. It’s just become a signature event for the fall season in Ocean City,” Waters said.
All entertainment is free except for the headline shows. Tickets may be purchased either on site during Sunfest, online with Ticketmaster, or at the Ocean City Convention Center box office.
Parking is not available on the festival grounds, but visitors may use the Park and Ride service in West Ocean City on Route 50. The service costs $3 to ride all day.
Special event express shuttle service will also be available at the convention center on 40th street. Additional Park and Ride locations include the Public Safety building on 65th Street, the municipal lot on 100th Street, and Northside Park on 125th Street.
