One life lesson best taught early is perseverance.

Founder and Executive Director of Pathways to Success, Fay Blake, learned that lesson growing up, and it inspired her to give back to her community, one life at a time.

Now, she and her team are working to help kids, adults, and their families, find success. Fay and Outreach Coordinator, Sarah Gilmour, tell us more about Pathways, and how you can help support the cause.

Pathways to Success was born out of a need to give back to the community and help kids along the way. They start working with kids in the 9th grade. They make sure those kids are showing up to school because studies show the highest drop out rate is 9th graders. They also check students grades and assist them with their homework. They stick with the students until they graduate high school and their first year after.

Fay says they help them academically, but also help them with social skills and that transition into adulthood. They help them find full-time jobs, get into the military, or college – whatever their pathway may be.

Chef Gretchen Hanson who has been on DelmarvaLife before decided to hold a fundraiser to raise money for Pathways to Success. Gretchen Hanson‘s Big Birthday Bash Fundraiser for Pathways to Success is on Feb. 1 at Grotto Pizza on Rehoboth Ave. There is a lot of fun in store at this fundraising event and a portion of the proceeds will go to Pathways to Success. This voucher must be presented at the time of your order, so be sure to print it and take it with you. Get voucher here.
