It’s no surprise that Rehoboth Beach is in this contest. Funland and Jungle Jim’s Water Park makes Rehoboth a great place to take the kids. Caramel corn, fudge, and salt water taffy at Dolle’s, as well as famous Thrasher’s french fries, are some of the must-get items on your list when visiting this seaside town. Not to mention the many restaurants, other sweet treats on the boardwalk, and shops that line Rehoboth Ave. You can’t help but have a smile on your face and be happy in this family friendly resort town.

There are 10 seaside towns in the competition. Coastal Living narrowed it down to this top 10 list after looking over people’s nominations, as well as, their past places they’ve acclaimed as “dream towns.” They also looked at the percentage of clear and sunny days, healthiness of beaches, crime ratings, and financial well-being of the locals.

Here’s the 10 finalists:

  • Capitola, CA
  • Farihope, AL
  • Hermosa Beach, CA
  • Hilo, HI
  • Portland, ME
  • Rehoboth Beach, DE
  • Seaside, OR
  • Stuart, FL
  • Sturgeon Bay, WI
  • Sullivan’s Island, SC

Linda Parkowski, director of the Delaware Tourism Office, said she clearly understands why Rehoboth Beach would be in the running for the Happiest Seaside Town.

“With its relaxing beach, extensive shopping options and delicious food choices, it is easy to see why Rehoboth would be considered a happy place,” said Parkowski. “Since the contest allows people to vote once an hour, they should vote early and often to help bring the designation of Happiest Seaside Town to Delaware.”
